Ah Man!

So I went to get my fabrics ready to quilt and I noticed this

I am missing one green hexi and I don't have it laid out like I wanted.  gggrrrrrr!!  It normally wouldn't be that big of a deal.  I would have just left the hexi off and said the heck with it but this is for the Robert Kaufman challenge and you have to use some of all the pieces from the charm pack on the top of the quilt to be considered for the competition.  So needless to say, I unpinned everything and put it on.

I AM happy with how the applique turned out.  Here are some close ups of it.

Pincushion Love

I made this pincushion today and LOVE it!  

The pattern came from Rashinda Coleman-Hale's book I Love Patchwork.  So many good projects in this book!  I can't wait to do a few more  :)

 

In other non crafty news, I accomplished something I've been wanting to do for a while - climb a mountain.

 

This is the Incline in Manitou Springs.  It's 2000 feet straight up.  I only went half way where it meets up with the Barr Trail.  Total time took 2 hours and felt great - until the next day  HAHA!

On the way back we saw this fun piece of art in a parking lot

 

I wanted to get up in it but it was REALLY high!

Challenge Quilt

My Robert Kaufman Challenge quilt is in its final stages!  After much rearranging, I figured out the design

I also started cutting out another quilt this week (I'm on a roll and don't want to stop!  HAHA!)

It is the Mod Times quilt from Twin Fibers.  I think I'm going to expand the dimensions and make it slightly bigger so it can be a lap/camping quilt instead of a baby quilt.

 

 

I think that's all I'll get done this week.  Very happy with my progress though  :)

First order of business - my new quilt top

I just finished it up this afternoon and LOVE it!  It is so bright and colorful!  I need to figure out the back yet - I'm thinking a strip of hexagons on some cream colored Kona.  What do you think?

 

Next, I wanted to show you some things I have made recently (well, one is more recent than the other - HAHA) for my niece Jenna.

 

 

 

I made her the robe for Christmas - it's a little big but at least she can use if for a while before she grows out of it.  The pillow case was something I made her for Easter.  I made 3 of them total and gave it with the cutest little pillow just big enough for her head.  Maybe not her hair, but definitely her head - HAHA!!

About a month ago I went with one of my coworkers to a place we have here in Denver called Canvas and Cocktails.  It's a place you get to go and paint where they supply you with everything you need including instructions and you paint and drink wine.  Went back again last night and had a blast again.  Such a fun stress reliever.  :)

 

Lastly, I started a little herb garden in my apartment.  Note to self, need to get a house next time so I can have a REAL garden.  It's been a lot of fun watching it grow (and it's delicious too!)
